OnePlus 10 will feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 – officially announced

According to OnePlus’ co-founder, the phone will arrive with Qualcomm’s powerful new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU.

Pete Lau, who co-founded OnePlus and is now the company’s chief product officer, took to Chinese social media site Weibo to disclose that the “next-generation” of OnePlus will employ the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. He’s most likely talking to the OnePlus 10 in 2022.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset was unveiled earlier this week, and manufacturers have already begun showcasing forthcoming phones that will include the new system-on-chip. Xiaomi for the Xiaomi 12 series, Motorola for the Motorola Edge X30, Realme for the Realme GT 2 Pro, and Oppo for the Oppo Find X4 are the first five firms to confirm the chipset’s use in future flagships.

However, none of those phones are expected to make it to the United States. The OnePlus 10 will undoubtedly do so, as will Samsung’s Galaxy S22, which is likely to have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 boasts a CPU that is 20% quicker and 30% more energy efficient than the Snapdragon 888, which is found within the OnePlus 9. Other features of Qualcomm’s processor include improved camera performance, artificial intelligence, and gaming.

The OnePlus 10 hasn’t been given a firm release date, but a leaker predicts that it will go on sale in China in January or February 2022, with the rest of the globe following suit by the middle of the year. That would be a break from OnePlus’ customary strategy, which is to launch its flagship phones globally.
